It's spring : San Diego Flower Fields & Gardens

Each spring, San Diego blooms into seas of beautiful colors. A primary burst of February blossoms summons an early start to the season, then the floral display marches on through May in a spectacular parade of vivid colors. While the profusion of petals is everywhere this time of year, here are some of the top spots to enjoy the spring show.

San Diego Botanic Garden
Relish a diversity of exotic and indigenous flora at the San Diego Botanic Garden. Located in Encinitas (just 30 miles north of the city), the tucked-away garden features 37 acres of trees, shrubs and plants arranged by theme and region.

Balboa Park
Encompassing nearly 1,200 acres, Balboa Park is a magnificent cultural complex that includes seven major gardens.

Anza-Borrego Desert Sate Park
A spectacular display occurs annually in the 600,000-acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in San Diego's East County as colorful wildflowers bejewel the sun-scorched desert landscape.

Flower Fields of Carlsbad California
A vibrant sea of giant ranunculus flowers transforms 50 acres of hills into rows of brilliant color.
